2023 World Time Attack Challenge - The World's fastest Toyota GR Yaris, just got faster!
So it's already been a week since the 2023 World Time Attack Challenge, here is the recap.
Early on in the year we had no plans on competing. The team and I had one goal and that was to be the first in the World to run a 9 second pass in the 1/4 mile. On the 6th of April 2023, this became a reality where we backed it up three times in a row.
9.975, 9.916 and 9.864.

From this point we had no further goals for the rest of the year and with WTAC 5 months away, surely this would be ample time to change the setup from drags back to circuit. There is never enough time! We were battling with gremlins and car setup till the very last day, the Thursday practice just before WTAC.
My initial goal this year was still to be the fastest GR Yaris at WTAC. Come Friday morning Adam Casmiri set a PB for the car with a 1.35.1. Progressing from our last years record of a 1.36.8. Typical me, I am never really happy, I wanted more. I once again shifted the goal posts. I wanted that 1.34.x!
Saturday morning was our best shot. We turned it up to 2.8 bar (40psi). Unfortunately we had to abort the lap as there was oil on the track. Our only shot now for that 1.34.x was at night for the top 5 shootout. The issue here was we were hanging on by a thread. We had to ensure that we stayed in the top 5 to make the shootout. We headed out in the midday session to try set a time where our exhaust got damaged which then rubbed against the carbon tailshaft which ended up breaking.
Within an hour we replaced the tailshaft, big thanks to Toys Garage who fixed our exhaust on the spot.
Come the final session, no other competitor managed to further improve their times. We made the top 5 shootout!
From here it was all or nothing. The boost was again turned up to 3 bar (43-44psi). Adam Casmiri, you drove the sh#t out of it! 1.34.6! Another PB for the team!
I would like to thank my whole team, sponsors and supporters. This result could not have been done without everyone of you.
